Behavior Therapy

Behavior Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science & can certainly be a part of Autism treatment. This therapy is conceived for providing young people coping with trauma, anxiety & mental illness. Children with “special needs” may have panic attacks or serious emotional outburst. Autism is largely a social communication disorder. Children with autism find it extremely difficult to relate to others in ordinary ways. "Special needs" children do not respond to traditional discipline for lack of ability, sensory integration and cause-and-effect thinking and not by intension. Using behavioral therapy, using positive reinforcement like perhaps letting him do a preferred activity it looks like a controlled & nicely structured play session. It’s also important for autistic children to receive services in the natural environment because it’s often hard for them to understand that the same behaviors are expected of them at home and at school or everywhere else. On the other hand socialization is also important and children don’t get much of that when they are kept at home.

At Zep our specialists offer "play therapy" to children with autism. We offer play therapy which is wonderful tool for helping children to move beyond autisms self absorption into real, shared interaction. We teach Play therapy to parents so that, parents can become their child’s therapist while also building a stronger, more meaningful relationship.
